Часть средств на счетах до востребования, которую коммерческий банк обязан сохранять на своем резервном счете. От ее величины зависит максимальный размер займов, которые может выдать банк. В США официальные требования к резервам депозитных учреждений устанавливаются ФРС. Резервы (наличность в кассе банка или вносимые в наличной форме вклады при принудительных и необязательных депозитариях) по трансакционным счетам составляют 3% суммы средств на счете в 25 млн долл. и менее и 12% для более крупных сумм. Во Франции норма резервирования составляла 60%, а резервы определялись как... наличность... и легкореализуемые активы, фигурирующие в балансе. С сентября 1988 г. введена новая система со 100%-ным резервированием.
